The Awesome Snowstorm!!!!!

OMG!!!!!! I have just had the BEST weekend EVER!!!! Of course, there was the snowstorm. But I had a lot more than a snowstorm on my mind.
On the day of the snowstorm, my cousins came over. They are my cousins Angel and Idalis, and my aunt Kewy (prononced kiwi) and my uncle Pedro. They even brought their dog Nina, who is a Bichon Frise, the best breed of dog in the history of the universe!!!!!!
As the snowstorm got worse, I knew my cousins were going to have to stay at my house, but I never thought they would have to stay over for 2 nights and 3 days!! The only time we have been together more was when, like, half of my whole family went to Columbia for a giant family reunion.
This is me,  Angel, Idalis, and Nina, the dog.
Idalis was really happy staying over. She was like the only one who wanted to stay, for, like, a WEEK or something. But, still, I don't blame my cousin Angel for wanting to go back home, because we got the family a Kinect for Christmas and I bet Angel wanted to try it out. I guess Kewy was having a good time. She treats Nina like a princess, even though Nina had 3... well... PROBLEMS. And Pedro was DYING to get back to his house.
OH YEAH!!! This was a blessing from Mother Nature, I think!!! I LOVE spending time with family! Best snowstorm EVER!!!!!

This is our family dinner, with Idalis on the far left, Kewy on the
right next to her, and Angel after that. My parents are the ones standing
and Pedro is sitting to the right of them. And I'm the one with one closed eye- oops!

The book The Girl Who Could Fly

OMG!!!!! I just read this book and it was soooooooooo awesome!!!!! It is called The Girl Who Could Fly and I recommend it to anyone who loves action, sooo much emotion, and just a wonderful story. The book is about a girl named Piper McCloud. When she was a baby, she could float, and now, Piper can fly.  Afraid for their daughter's safety, they send her to a top secret school called I.N.S.A.N.E. But what seems like the only safe environment for Piper may be really the most dangerous place Piper has ever been to.
This book is awesome!!!
You gotta read it!!!!
This is the book's cover.

The Hard Nut

Yesterday, Alexander, my mom, my grandmother, and I went to see the ballet The Hard Nut. It was, like, AWESOME!! The Hard Nut is a modern twist to the ballet The Nutcracker. Did you know that what they play in The Nutcracker is NOT the origional story? The real stry includes Princess Pirlipat, the 7- headed mouse king, and the curse of the Hard Nut. The Hard Nut also included these things. It was also VERY FUNNY!!! In the dance of Snow, some of the dancers were boys!!! But, they were wearing cute little tutus and stuff! All the grown- ups were cracking up. And in the party, everyone "drank" and began doing bad stuff. All the grown-ups were laughing their heads off. In fact, it was NOTHING like the Nutcracker.  WHOA!!!!!!!!!! I will never again see The Nutcracker with the same eyes!!!!

Wolf-o-mania!

I have began really studying an awesome subject-  Yellowstone National Park! I love everything about it- the setting is aready amazing enough WITHOUT the animals! Check out this picture!
I want to find out as much as possible about Yellowstone, so I hope you don't mind, but if you know anything about Yellowstone, can you let me know/comment on my post? Thanks.
Another thing. Yellowstone is awesome, but I find one thing about Yellowstone awesome, cool, brilliant, and superb. WOLVES.
Wolves are AWESOME!!!!!! This is a picture I found- these wolves are from Yellowstone. I like wolves in general, but mostly Yellowstone wolves.

I would love if you told me everything you know about wolves. Also, I would like it if you answered my poll on the bottom of the blog about wolves.
WOLVES ARE AMAZING!

This is a picture of a Yellowstone sunset with buffalo grazing, not wolves.

The Movie Night

Today at school, we had a movie night. Also, we were selling turkey raffle tickets, which is another fund raiser to help the 5th grade be able to go on our 5th grade trip. And there was a fruit salad and burritoes, and tables and EVERYTHING!! The movie was called the Secret of Kells. I did not like that movie much. It was beautiful artwork, but the end just seemed..... akward. But it was still nice, with me playing around with some of my friends. Overall, I had a blast!!!

The Today Times

I had nothing really interesting to write about, so this blog post is about today.
First, I had a friend over at my house. Her name is Mollie, and we played a website called Pixie Hollow, and another website called lpso, which stands for Littlest Pet Shop...Hmm... I'm not sure about the last one.  I think it might be Online.
Anyway, after the playdate, I did my homework and had a music lesson. Magyk is a really good book!! Anyone who likes fantasy will like this book.
And also, just now I practiced my viola for a REALLY long time. But it is worth it!
That's today, in the Today Times!!

VH1 Save the Music

VH1 Save The Music Foundation On this Monday, PS58 school orchestra is going to the VH1 Save the Music Gala! And I am part of the orchestra!!! Famous people will be there! I'm playing in front of almost 700 people!!!!!
I'm soooooooooooooooooooooooo scared!!!
But what an honor! People are paying THOUSANDS of dollars just to see us play! Well, not just us, of course, but our orchestra is fetured on the manual! AHHHHHH I'm so scared!
We have practicing OVER and OVER and OVER, but it's well worth it. VH1 GALA!! VH1 gives schools like mine instruments. They are super awesome to school because they "save" music programs in schools. It's like their job.
I play the viola, and the two songs we are playing are "My Favorite Things" and "Dance of the Tumblers". It's kind of funny that we are playing "My Favorite Things" from the movie "The Sound of Music", when JULIE ANDREWS, the JULIE ANDREWS is going to be there!!!!!!
OMG!!
JULIE ANDREWS is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trip to a CITY Farm!!!

Today, I went to a farm as a school trip. But it was a farm in the CITY!!! And not only that, but the farm is on the top of a building!!! It's a ROOF farm!!! and it was totally awesome!!!
First, when we got there, our tour guide explained how the mounds of earth where the plants grow stay UP when it rains or snows really hard. Turns out, they can grow certian kinds of plants that the roots are so strong, the mounds hold together. Cool, huh?
Then we went and looked at the peas. Our tour guide said we can eat anything off the pea plant-the peas themselves, but also the flower and leaf, petals and all. WOW! I still don't like snap peas, but that is cool!!
They also had two huge compost bins, and bees, and sombody saw a ladybug. And at the end, our tour guide showed us little SUPER spicey red pepper. I don't like spicey stuff, and I don't like peppers so I made my mom try it instead. She said that just putting on her tongue made it BURN!!!
Well, I had a lot of fun on this trip. I hope every trip is just as fun.

THE SHEEP AND WOOL FESTIVAL!!!

Does anyone know about the Dutchess County Fair? Then you should know about the Sheep and Wool Festival! They hold it once a year, at the Dutchess County Fair fairgrounds, and it is all about sheep, wool, llamas, goats, alpacas, and, above all, KNITTING!!! The Sheep and Wool Festival is a knitting heaven!!

Alright. I will first talk about the featured breed, or at least show you a picture. This years featured breed of sheep is.....
 ...The American Oxford!!!

Alright, now that you know that, I MUST tell you about the Leapin' Llama Contest. During the Leapin' Llama contest, llamas and alpacas compete for the hightest and farthest jump. Is it a fast paced competition? Not at all!! A lot of alpacas REFUSED to go over the bar!! It was so funny to watch the owners pushing and pulling, ans even hopping up and down, to try to get them motivated. LOL!!
Pictures will be posted up as soon as they are avalible.

Next, let me just tell you... WHOA!! There were SOOOO many shops!!! It was like, at least ten!! I got some really cool softish yarn that is pink to knit, and a special glass thing that you can put through your sweater or scarf (knitted, of course.) to hold it up or pin something into place. Oh, and also, I got a glass button, red and shiny, a toy alpaca, and the softest teddy bear in the history of all teddy bears that the world has seen. OMG that guy is SOFT!!!!
My mom got some nice black knitting needles, and two rolls of blue yarn. Oh, and a special thing to roll the yarn into balls. You know when you buy yarn, it comes in theese large strands that need to be rolled up into balls of yarn? Well, my mom bought the thing that rolls them. You hang the strands on a sort of circle, and turn a sort of lever around and around, and POOF!! It's all rolled up!!
Oh, and my dad? He did not buy knitting things. As you probably guessed, my dad is not the type of dad to pick up a pair of knittig needles every night. So what did he buy? Cheese!!

More to tell... check it out often for new updates. Also, know that pictures will be on as soon as possible.
Bye for now,
Gabby
This is one of the sheep I saw.

Neighborhood Dogs

I have started a project! Almost every time you see a dog on the street, you feel like you want to pet it, right? Well, in this project, you can't pet the dog, but you can see what he or she looked like and about the owners, too. I call it Project Dog.
This is a dog called Max. He is pretty old (15 years) but he is a
wonderful, gentle dog with great owners. Can you belive that this
sign was posted on the doorstep where he was sitting!?

Don't worry. That sign did not mean Max. "That is the OTHER dog,"
the owner had said.
I actually saw a Bichon Frise on the streets not long ago. I hope to see it again soon!!!
Find more dogs on the page "Project Dog" Dogs RULE!!!
